The uptick extends the recovery trend that began in February, following a steep 22% drop in January.
The total planned output is 240,000 vehicles, according to a statement issued by the Egyptian Presidency.
In May alone, Egypt’s imports of cars amounted to about $208.3 million, while they were about $ 180.9 million in the same month in 2023, an increase of $27.4 million.
The decline was primarily caused by a 53% month-over-month drop in the sale of passenger cars, with only 2,800 units sold in the entire month.
This recovery comes after a downturn in January, marking the lowest point in the past 10 months.
